Fortunate to have royal “blood”, since the new city was named after Thessaloniki, sister of Alexander the Great and daughter of Philip II, King of Macedonia. It was developed rapidly – due to its prominent geographical location- as one of the most important ports, and economical and commercial centers of Macedonia and the Balkan Peninsula as a whole, advantages maintained for the past 2300 years.
Undeniable witnesses of its long course over the years are its numerous monuments. The city of Kavala is built on a hillside along the coast of the Aegean sea, a cultural crossroad between the East and West, which has everything you could wish for in a destination and more; mountains, beaches, picture perfect cityscapes, breathtaking views, significant monuments and sites, delicious local cuisine and amazing places to discover at a short distance.
Explore Kavala’s shores; beautiful secluded beaches – or not – with crystal-clear waters will please even the most selective among us. Have fun water sports activities and then savour local dishes in a picturesque seaside taverna. The city’s significance throughout the years is mainly due to its location next to Egnatia Way and its port.

9.00 Departure for Thessaloniki
14.00 Arriving in Thessaloniki. Accommodation and free time for lunch. Possibility for a lunch in a traditional Greek tavern!
16.00 Guided tour of Thessaloniki. The capital of Greek Macedonia. The White Tower - a symbol of the city; the church "St. St. Cyril and Methodius ”; Navarino Square with Galer's Palace; Galer's Arch, built in 305 to celebrate the final victory of Emperor Galer Maximilian over the Persians; Eptapirgio Fortress with a beautiful panoramic view of the city and the Thermal Bay; the church "St. Dimitar ”- an unusually beautiful temple built of pink bricks, where the powerful of St. Dimitar are kept. Free time. Possibility to ride on a boat!
9.00 Breakfast. Departure for Nestos river.
11.00 Arrival at the Nestos river delta
An amassing day at the Mesta (Nestos) delta. Activities on delta Nestos national park. Kayaking, rafting, hiking and many others.
10.00 Guided tour of Kavala. Free time.
